Why can't I see the captcha?

Post by mozurkewich »

Some website require a captcha. I never see it, so I can not answer. Why? I've tried enabling scripts I usually bloc and disabling blocking for the sit, still no luck. What causes this?

When things work properly in Safe Mode but not in Standard Mode it often indicates that an installed extension is causing problems. Try disabling all extensions but one and then close and restart the program. (Disable them by using menu path Tools->Addons->Extensions->click on "Disable" for every extension but one.) See if the problem is present. If not, enable an additional extension and close and restart the application. Repeat this procedure until the problem reappears. The last enabled extension will be the cause of the problem.

So it looks like two different extensions that cause trouble: Privacy Badger and NoScript. Now I am exactly where I was before.

That there is a problem that I don't know how to fix. But maybe I do ...

Is there some reason to not always use safe mode?

There are certain sites (financial and such) that I never access with other windows open. Before and after visiting those sites, I close Firefox to clear the cache and such. Two such sites are giving me trouble. So maybe I should just always go to safe mode when I want to access them. They are sites I trust, so no need for the privacy add-ons I use. But I don't know what safe mode actually does. So is there a downside to always using it for certain sites?

Turns out safe mode does not work since it seems to block cookies that are needed to log in.

Maybe someone will have a helpful suggestion? Something other than: "You must bow down before Google, your god".

Has it occurred to you that I have reasons for using those extensions? Of course not. You are too stupid for that.

Normally I just ignore stupid replies. But when you insist on repeating yourself, just louder, I need to reply.
