I keep getting a banner saying "some users of Avg software are unable to access their saved passwords and logins", and my AVG is up to date which is the stated solution when I click through. In any event, I don't use Firefox to save logins or passwords, so how do I stop this very irritating message/banner? ](*,)
Regards

Henry

I am using Firefox 70.0.1 and the very latest version of AVG Internet Security with updated signatures.

but its ofc firefox, its the "normandy" feature - only heard about.

if henry has AVG installed (and i think he has) - on windows 10 - he should uninstall it, windows defender is already one of the best but without any impact to firefox

- uninstall, then clean up!

More opinionated BS, your same BAD advice screwed up a users PC last week,

@Henry ignore the uninstall AV MozCo mantra, Defender's an average at best FREE AV.

The forum does not allow attachments due to database load and especially due to amount of spam attempts this forum can get each day.

This is a Heartbeat message https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Shield/Heartbeat and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rate-your-firefox-experience-heartbeat

The red heart in the notification means this is about Heartbeat (Normandy).

FYI
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Shield/Heartbeat

Disabling Heartbeat

We understand that any interruption of your time on the internet can be annoying.

open about:config
toggle app.normandy.enabled to false
enjoy the rest of your day!

Many thanks to those that pointed out that this originates from "Normandy", which I had never heard of despite using Firefox for more years than I care to remember. I have now disabled it via the about:config instructions :D :D :D

I don't like the Heartbeat concept at all!!

Well bless my heart. I would never have known. I would never have guessed.
And I would have thought it to be malicious, bogus.

Good to see the Mozilla is looking out for me (-not).

If the OP is on the most recent FF, & using the most recent AVG (along with, presumably, the most recent definitions), then why is he still getting the message, when this "heartbeat" stems from 5 months ago (& so should no longer be an issue).

Likewise, if you disable the Pref, then heartbeat is disabled (& if your heart stops...), then no further hearts will beat, & then with the next heartbeat there is no beat (warning).

(Maybe there is some relationship here with upcoming Veteran's Day & Russian 75th anniversary of D-Day [Normandy]?)
