Solved - Clicking a Link Does Not Open a New Tab

Post by skuddle »

A couple of days ago Windows updated itself to 1909. Shortly thereafter I have noticed this problem:

Whenever I click on a link, a new tab does not appear, even though I have enabled "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" under Tabs in Options > General. I believe (i.e. 99.99% sure) that option has always been enabled, and I'm not sure if this is a Windows problem, a Firefox problem, or a cockpit problem, and I'm open to suggestions. I am using FF 70.0.1.

That works, thank you. Do you happen to know what was changed and why? I've never had to use middle-click to open anything...

Default action on clicking on a link click is to open in the same tab.
Anything else is determined by the web page.
Some pages allow you to set a preference (cookie) to determine what action should be taken.
And you as a user may be able to bypass these defaults.
