Toggle between "profiles" that include or exclude plug-ins?

Post by TBUser12345 »

I use NoScript and uBlockOrigin plug-ins, but I am finding that in recent times, they cause a few issues with the functionality of some websites. Often these issues are subtle, but nevertheless, some cause a significant problem. I find myself having to disable them, then go to the website that I need to work on, then re-enable them, to say go back to blocking obnoxious ads on say youtube etc..

Is there a way that I can very quickly disable and re-enable a selected group of plug-ins? Say a shortcut key, or the press of a keyboard Function key, or some similar quick action?

Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

Hi,
Refer to these KB articles...
> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Opening_a_new ... er_profile
> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_multipl ... _-_Firefox

Don't add anything to the new Profile/s.

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

IF you choose Limpet's suggestion that I use, too, (gave up watching Video battle on FF default and TEST Profile works) I keep these Shtcuts on my desktop and in Taskbar as follows:

TEST PROFILE w/ FF default OPEN

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P TEST -no-remote
( Quotes around “TEST 2” vs TEST2 if Profile name has a space between 2 characters )

TEST PROFILE w/FF default Closed

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P TEST

PROFILE MGR w/ FF default CLOSED
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" –P

PROFILE MGR w/ FF default OPEN

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P -no-remote

TASKBAR ...3 FF's Left to Right: -- FF .default Profile -- TEST Profile w/ FF default Open -- TEST Profile w/ FF default Closed

I would use Help > Troubleshooting Information, scroll down to about:profiles click it, then use "Create a New Profile" to create a profile you want to use that includes or excludes the extensions you want to use, then create a bookmark for about:profiles, or just enter it into the address bar and use it each time you want to switch.

You can consider to disable NoScript and other possible extensions in Private Browsing mode and open a New Private Window if you want these extensions to be disabled.
