[SOLVED] Export/import dropdown list is not functioning
This problem is in Linux Mint 19.3 and Firefox 72.0.1. I am unable to export the HTML bookmarks. The JSON file is accessible from the Profile folder.

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

A little better but it takes numerous times to be able to pin it down and select. The same is with the other two, view sand organize

I don't understand your answer. Does that drop down work in Safe Mode to access the export functionality?

Re: Export/import dropdown list is not functioning (Linux)
* This issue is in Linux FF v72.0.2 which in normal mode it's not possible to "catch" and keep it open as it flashes open and closes.
* In the same OS, but in safe mode, "catching" it to keep it open is a rare hit among many misses. Eventually succeeded after numerous tries because Firefox is a bit slower in safe mode.
* Now, switched to Windows 10 with FF 72.0.2 to compare, and it works perfectly well.

I'm not familiar with Linux. On Windows, tapping either the Alt key or the Esc key will close an open drop-down menu. Changing focus to a different window also may close a menu. Could keys (or simulated keys) or focus changes explain your menu closing on Linux?

This is not about closing it's about not being able to keep open the drop down menu to make a selection.

Try using the ui.popup.disable_autohide pref to disable popup autohide as a test.

Keep in mind that Firefox from the repositories can behave differently than Firefox from the Mozilla server.
There is also this pref to make Firefox create a bookmarks.html backup in the profile folder when you close Firefox.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookm ... ExportHTML
You can specify the full file path:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.file

Re: Export/import dropdown list is not functioning (Linux)
Thanks for this valuable info. By now I am aware of the differences, and also posted the language issue at the Linux Mint forum. It seems that I am not the only one there with Firefox language issues but of a different nature.dickvl wrote:Keep in mind that Firefox from the repositories can behave differently than Firefox from the Mozilla server.
