stop "Visit" link from being suggested

Is there any way to stop the "Visit" link for the root page on a domain from being the top suggestion when the start of the domain name is typed? Especially in corporate intranets, often a server doesn't have a valid or useful page at the root. Inside IBM, for instance, I type "blue" looking for our internal personnel directory, BluePages, and the correct link (w3.ibm.com/bluepages/) comes up second in the list based on recent and frequent use, but bluepages.ibm.com (which exists and has some infrequently used and correctly suggested pages underneath, but the root just returns 404 not found) always comes up first.
