Hello ,

i do use Firefox Browser since long time now and still use FF52.9 because mostly legacy add-ons are needed.

noticed that for example on this site here

#reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/c ... e/ev5zlfk/

i cannot go on reading
when clicking

"View entire discussion" 216 comments

NOthing gets loaded.

This should not happen.

Is there anything i can do to continue to use Firefox 52 on such "trivial" sites as reddit?

Thank you very much.

(sorry i posted this already by error in "Firefox Builds" - please delete over there)

The new reddit UI doesn't work as well with Legacy Firefox versions, I see issues myself.

The "old" UI there works far better for me.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

Thank you!

I noticed similar on other sites aswell, and am wondering if there are any readily available tweaks in say about:config
because other legacy browsers like basilisk seem to handle those sites better.

There's actually a Reddit Addon designed to fix this problem with older incompatible browser versions by redirecting to old Reddit.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefo ... -redirect/

In some ways I actually prefer the old Reddit GUI. Its a bit ugly but functionally it works AFAIK 100%.

There are a lot of other sites where i noticed inconsistencies,

like on

www.simplenote.com on can log in but the notes won't load.

it is my understanding that the newer Basilisk Browser, although similar to Firefox 52.9, is based on newer technology, or programming language, and therefore able to handle certain sites better than FF52.9 or prior.

But still, it should be possible to tweak the settings on Firefox to get some better compatibility with regards to certain homepages.

That's not logical. If Basilisk can access those sites due to newer technology, no amount of tweaking of settings in a browser with older technology would be able to resolve your issues.

Related thread in SeaMonkey: Reddit no longer works.
(And no, you're not going to be able to "tweak" to get it to work.)

firefox overall gives the best compatiblity with legacy add-ons (which is quite obvious) -
there no seamonkey or waterfox or basilisk can compete.
