I understand the tiny blue circle appearing just under the icon at a pinned tab indicates a change in the contents of the page. One of my pinned tabs is for constantly changing temporary notes created by me. Is there a way to remove/hide the blue circle, either for that tab or for all tabs?

The dot indicates a change in the title of the page, or the page somehow is signaling that it needs attention. You can use a custom style rule in userChrome.css to hide the dot, although I don't know whether you can limit that to a particular site.

For code, please refer to the thread you started six days ago: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3062413

@With Outlook open it signals new email, very useful.
I imagine it does the same with Gmail or any email service.

Thanks, jscher--especially since  this new question had already been answered for me! Now done.
