Download Speeds
I recently purchased a new computer and found I was downloading slower than I should be with Firefox. Running a speed test from Speedtest.net I download about 150mbps. I pay Spectrum for 400mbps. Closed Firefox and opened Google Chrome, rerun the test and it shows me at 480mbps download. Tried it a number of times from different test sites with the same result. Why is Firefox slowing my internet download speed?

Re: Download Speeds
I just ran a speedtest as well using Firefox, Chrome, and using speedtest-cli from a command prompt.
Results
Firefox 12.61 Mbps
Chrome 15.17 About 23% faster than Firefox
speedtest.cli 11.72
I do not know why your speeds were so much lower than Google Chrome?

Re: Download Speeds
I'm not lying to you when I say the download speeds are way off with Firefox. Take a look.

No one suggested that you were lying, simply saying that they could not replicate your results.I'm not lying to you when I say the download speeds are way off with Firefox. Take a look.

Re: Download Speeds
Sorry about the accusation. OK, weird. On Speedof.me Firefox downloaded faster. 410mbps to 266mbps. I guess it just depends on the site.

Re: Download Speeds
Several things affect results even if you test on the same site (network settings, tracking protection, adblocker filters, etc). I just used speedtest.net. I pretty much have the same network, tracking, adblocking settings on both. Same servers (very important as a lot of people think just testing on the same site is what matters, but using the same servers are just as, if not more, important). Chrome: Ping-10, Download-60.83, Upload-11.82. Firefox: Ping-11, Download-62.04, Upload-11.84.
Do, or do not. There is no try.

Re: Download Speeds
I only have 3 add-ons in Firefox so I wouldn't expect anything to effect the download speeds, and obviously the aren't. When I ran the tests I was using the same server and only ran them a minute apart from each other. I guess what I will do is use Chrome when I want to download something and Firefox for everything else.
