[Fixed!] Cannot Create a New Google Account in Firefox

I'm having a lot of problems signing into Google with Firefox. I can sign in with Internet Explorer, and I've been signing in with Firefox for several years now, but now I can't.

After spending a few hours trying this and that, I decided to create a new Google account and so I cleared the Firefox cache and cookies, closed Firefox, re-opened it, and then browsed to Google.com.

At Google.com I clicked the Sign In button at the upper right and a Sign In screen appeared but when I clicked "Create a new account", the button blinked but then nothing happened and I couldn't go any farther.

I don't know what the problem is. Can somebody please point me in the right direction?

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Yes, the same thing occurs if I log in using the Safe mode.

What screen are you getting, when trying to sign in? What does the page do?

I've been using Bitdefender for over two years now without this problem.

I can't remember what screen I received or what happened when I received it. I've been doing so many things the last day or two trying to sign into Google that I became totally and thoroughly discombobulated...

Anyhow, I think I have resolved my problems because I can now sign in. At least until I accidentally sign out...
