FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
So why some webpages (3 so far) aren't working properly when using FF ESR but look normal when using FF RR?

1. What ESR version are you running?
2. How about providing an example of a web site where you see this happening?

Re: FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
1. latest ESR since it autoupdates. next big update is still a while away.
2. on 1 site layout is messed on ESR (scrshots attached) and not that oddly same thing with Seamonkey (but that's issue for other subforum), other site submitting ticket works on RR and SM but not with ESR (not that it works with Chrome Edge either) and on Kickstarter changing pledge doesn't work with EAR (probably works with RR but didn't test since worked with Chrome Edge).
3. No, haven't done clean install of ESR since started using it (uninstalled it "couple" times to get rid off duplicate listing of FF on apps (happens since update process starts on non-admin account and installation on admin-account)).

Re: FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
since screenshots weren't enough here's 1 site which looks totally messed up on non-RR FF, https://hintaseuranta.fi/
so yea something on FF ESR page rendering or whatever is so different that some sites break.
same settings on both FFs (slightly different ABP blockades but no change if ABP is disabled).

Re: FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
Confirmed.
(78 ESR looks just like SeaMonkey & not very usable.)
Guess you have to chalk that up to Google & website coders who blindly follow only Google, & who have to use every new trick in the book.

Re: FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
and I switched to ESR cause 1 online game (Flash) wasn't working properly and then switched to Comodo Dragon for better gameplaying and now to get 3 sites to look normal I have to switch from ESR to RR (fat chances that website coders (contacted to 2 but no change) will change how their sites work on FF ESR.

Adobe has discontinued their Flash Player at end of December 2020 and blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021, so no modern web browser still allows it to run. https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/flash ... -life.html

Re: FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
You can do a custom install of the release version in another program folder to have both version available.
You can use desktop shortcuts to launch each version with its own profile.
If you set one version as the default browser then make sure that the profile it uses is marked as default=1 and that the profiles are locked correctly to their own profile as Firefox doesn't complain if you use the 78 ESR profile with 89 release.
if webpages aren't working in Firefox ESR then this usually means that the website uses newer JavaScript other features that do not work in ESR.

Didn't say that I'm still playing it (could if browsers would support Flash).James wrote:Adobe has discontinued their Flash Player at end of December 2020 and blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021, so no modern web browser still allows it to run. https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/flash ... -life.html

Re: FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
(And there are other browsers out there that do still support Flash, i.e. Pale Moon.

Re: FF ESR vs FF Rapid Release
I had browser which supported Flash but of 3 Flashgames I played only 2 worked with it and 1 (multiplayer) of remaining 2 had no players anymore so uninstalled it.

(I didn't realize, but FF 78 ESR does still support Flash. [78ESR is the last FF to support Flash.])
