Upper-right corner icons have reappeared
My Firefox was configured to remove the icons in the upper-right corner [minimize, restore, maximize], but now they're back. How can I now remove them?

Is other code in your userChrome.css still working since you appear to have more problems recently ?

You can check whether this pref to enable userChrome.css and userContent.css in the chrome folder is still set to true on the about:config page.
toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets = true

Re: Upper-right corner icons have reappeared
Thanks, dickvl. I do have other problems. I've now changed toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets from false to true. I've also changed browser.urlbar.quantumbar to false. Jscher has other suggestions in the link you provided (https://www.userchrome.org/firefox-chan ... e-css.html), but those are not comprehensible to me at the state of my knowledge. That's true also of the suggestions at https://linuxtidbits.wordpress.com/2009 ... n-firefox/. What I have changed has not helped.
Most of my settings are satisfactory, but I can't get rid of the X in the active tab title and I still have the corner icons I wrote about here. I'm willing to reconstruct my profile, but I don't want to lose my settings and other data. Do you have any suggestions?

Did you create a new profile for Firefox 78 ESR since you wrote in other threads that you switched from release (89/90) to ESR (78)?
There are differences between 78 and 90 and a lot of code in userChrome.css that worked in 90 won't work in 78, so you need to start with a fresh file and use code for 78.
We can't help you to figure out what changes you need, so if you do not have a backup from the time you used 78 as release then you will have to learn how to use the Browser Toolbox.

No, I don't have a Firefox backup from that time. I've examined your link re Browser Toolbox and I do not have a clue how to use it to solve. As I've indicated, most of my settings are okay--the only really bothersome ones are the X buttons within active tab titles and the three (hugely spaced) icons in the upper right of the screen.dickvl wrote:Did you create a new profile for Firefox 78 ESR since you wrote in other threads that you switched from release (89/90) to ESR (78)? . . . if you do not have a backup from the time you used 78 as release then you will have to learn how to use the Browser Toolbox.
I'm prepared to switch back now to the release version if I can avoid losing my settings etc. that I've reconstructed. Would that be possible? Or in my state of ignorance must I stay with ESR and its unwanted deviances forever?
Also: If I do stick with ESR can I expect again to lose my settings etc. the next time ESR updates? If Yes, how could I avoid that?
