[S] How to display the bookmarks Toolbar in Linux FF91.0.2?

Post by ineuw »

I am unable to find info on this latest change. Upgraded from 91.0.1 and something is blocking the bookmarks toolbar display. The bar shows blank, and I can access them in vertical mode [Ctrl-B] but I need the screen width more than the height. Help is much appreciated.

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

You normally toggle the Bookmarks Toolbar via "Ctrl+Shift+B".
If the Bookmarks Toolbar is showing, but is empty then verify in customize mode that the "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" control is still present on the Bookmarks Toolbar.

There can also be a problem with the places.sqlite database if nothing is shown on the Bookmarks Toolbar.

Much thanks. It was the "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" missing. I just noticed that they no longer include this or the Home icon in the address bar.

Now, the bigger problem is that Linux Firefox is blocked from accessing the internet. I am posting these from Vivaldi. This is really insane.

The Home button and the Library button are no longer placed by default on the Navigation Toolbar if you haven't used them in older Firefox versions and you need to add them yourself via customize mode.

If Firefox isn't able to access internet then check the connection settings.

Are you using Firefox from the Mozilla server ?

You can possibly try to create a new profile.

Thanks for the list of recommended steps. The connection issue is listed below.

I'll clarify everything as briefly as possible.

The Linux Mint Synaptic version upgrade from 91.0.1 to 91.0.2 was attempted by their system update and failed twice. (Let's leave this as it is for the time being).

The results recalled my past experience with their tweaks of FF. I purged their version and downloaded and installed the generic US version of 91.0.2 in /opt. This installation refused to connect to the internet.

Gave up, cleaned up every reference to the old Firefox installations and installed their Synaptic repository version as a new installation, which connects and works fine.

Thanks again. I will mark this as solved.
