Web site video popups

Post by jl123 »

Has anyone figured out how to stop these web site videos from popping up.
I have searched but have not found a solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Any particular site where this occurs?

I suspect it is code on yahoo's page itself that does it.
Not sure if an ad blocker would do it alone or not?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Commonly, but not always, these are videos embedded in the page that pop out into a fixed position overlay when you scroll past them. You can attack the positioning aspect, to keep them in their regular place using an overriding CSS rule; the problem is that this may be different for different sites. Alternately, you could try to prevent pages from triggering script actions based on scrolling, but I don't have a script handy to do that and haven't tested how well it would work.

Thanks for the reply.
They are very annoying.
I am surprised more people haven't complained out this.

I do not know how to write a CSS rule.

Maybe someone will be able figure out a CSS rule that works.

This thread has an example rule for a specific site. It is only for that site, but the general principle is to figure out the element that is moving and override its position to "static":

Note I use Ublock on Firefox and have seen this same on other browsers where I also have Adblock installed.
