My URL bar/box has at least 6 icons/buttons within it - some due to FF features and others from addons I have installed. On some web pages, even more icons/buttons are displayed within the URL bar/box. This often leaves very little visible lettering representing the actual URL address of the current page.
Is there any way, through CSS code or otherwise, to make the URL bar/box larger horizontally, either a fixed size or flexible in size depending on its content? I know this was possible with the old Firefox many versions ago, but not sure if this is still possible with FF92+.

Re: FF92 - Expand URL bar size?
The URL bar naturally expands to consume all the unused space on the main toolbar. You can move less used buttons to the Overflow list using Customize to make more space. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/customiz ... d-toolbars
If the buttons on the right side of your address bar are taking up too much space, you could consider using CSS to make them visible only on hover. I haven't tested the following rules in Firefox 92, but you could take a peek:

Try the post here and see if you want to move the Search Bar thus giving yourself a longer URL bar.

Re: FF92 - Expand URL bar size?
Thanks for the input, guys.
I normally have both the address bar and the search bar visible on the main toolbar. I also have enough other buttons (from addons) on the main toolbar that some buttons show up in the overflow area.
To free up space, I tried moving the search bar off of the main toolbar and into the Customize area. All of the buttons from the overflow area moved onto the main toolbar, with some blank space showing on the right side of the main toolbar (just to the left of the overflow button, which stayed at the extreme right). But the address bar did not expand or change size at all, and no additional address characters are visible. I still have the bookmarks star button and some other addon buttons inside the address bar to the right of the URL address, blocking much of the view of the current URL address.
So, no real change in the appearance or size of the address bar was achieved by freeing up space on the main toolbar. The address bar size doesn't seem to be flexible.
I may try some of jscher2000's code to attempt to remove some of these internal address bar addon buttons, but I'm not sure it will work as I don't know the code/name for some of those buttons.

Re: FF92 - Expand URL bar size?
I didn't realize that I had put some fixed maximum size limits on my address and search bars using .css code in my userchrome.css file. Adjusting those gives me a better view of the URL address in the address bar, which is in fact flexible.
Sorry for my confusion about this.
Thanks.
