[FIXED] Mozilla is aware of the current Firefox outage

Post by Fanolian »

As of this writing, your Firefox may not be able to connect to the internet. Mozilla is working hard to find the root cause and fix it. Please be patient.

For the time being, there are a few workarounds you can try:
1. Use another browser.
2. Temporarily disable Firefox data collection (Firefox settings > privacy & security > disable "Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla". Or
3. Temporarily disable HTTP3 (about:config > network.http.http3.enabled > false)

For those who choose option 2 or 3:
Please keep track of this issue and re-enable the settings once this outage is completely fixed.

Thanks for all the Firefox users who make the effort to file a bug report. There are nearly 30 duplicated reports already. Please refrain from filing another one. :D

UPDATE:
Root cause may be HTTP3. Mozilla has disabled HTTP3 for their telemetry (data collection) servers, i.e. option 2 is no longer relevant; you may re-enable it.
If issue persists, please use option 3.

UPDATE2, from the BMO bug report:
Firefox has witnessed outages and we are sorry for that. We believe it's fixed and a restart of Firefox should restore normal behaviour. We will provide more information shortly

hi.
thank you for the update.

about workarounds, here's the one that worked for me:
- empty the cache
- clear your history (i deleted just "today")
- download (using another browser…) latest beta v97b2

I was about to make a posting, but then I saw this one! My Firefox appears to work now. I won't go through the steps that I took as they may be irrelevant.

note: my v97b2 has "network.http.http3.enabled == true" but it is working.

Okay This explains why things were acting strange six hours ago. At first I thought something was wrong with my wifi.

Well, for me it is still not fixed after upgrading to 96.0.1. Actually I just encountered another loss of wi-fi connection before posting to this forum.

for those who are still experiencing a problem, mozilla recommends restarting firefox:

https://twitter.com/FirefoxSupport/stat ... 3360266242

if that doesn't resolve the problem, try "clearing the startup cache." here is some information on how to do that:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/us ... ation-page

look at the image on the webpage, where, in the image, it show "try clearing the startup cache."
