If you open the Download list and right-click the QFX file, does Firefox display "Always Open Similar Files" at the top of the menu? Click that to default to opening the file in the relevant application.
If that item is missing, it usually means the server sent a generic content-type for the file. That is harder to work around, but I have an add-on meant to address it: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... ype-fixer/
