Re: Can't See A Lot Of Images on The BBC
i didn't see a problem with viewing any of the images on any of the "bbc.com" webpages. however, i did have to "allow" scripting for some BBC-related URL's, in the "noscript" browser-extension, in order for all of the images to display properly.

So my Adblock plus might be the problem, with it turned off I can see all the images, so far!

you tried running firefox in "troubleshoot mode," where no browser-extensions are loaded? for testing, try running firefox in "troubleshoot mode," again, to see if the problem persists with all browser-extensions disabled.joefromsd wrote:So what else might I try??
another option would be to create a new, clean firefox profile and see if you still have the same problem with it.
you can use firefox's "profile manager" to create a new, clean firefox profile, which you can use for testing things, and to switch back and forth between whichever firefox profile that you want to use:

i am not sure what you are seeing that makes you think that images are not displaying.
if some images are not displaying, something is blocking them. do you use a HOSTS file, for blocking some content? if so, maybe that is why you are seeing that some images are not displayed, because they are blocked by your HOSTS file.
you can temporarily disable your HOSTS file by renaming it "nohosts," to test to see if it is causing a problem. the HOSTS file is located at "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\."
if you are using a HOSTS file to block some content, and it is leaving you with empty boxes where images (ads) normally would be, i could try to help you with with that, if you want.

Re: Can't See A Lot Of Images on The BBC
so the images that you weren't seeing actually were ads, ads that were blocked by the "adblock plus" browser-extension, right?joefromsd wrote:So my Adblock plus might be the problem, with it turned off I can see all the images, so far!
congratulations! mystery solved!
incidentally, if the "adblock plus" browser extension was blocking images that shouldn't have been blocked, that is, images that weren't ads, it is possible that you created a custom-rule for "adblock plus" that caused the problem. that is something that you can check, to see if you created a custom-rule for "adblock plus" that was causing the problem, blocking images, other than ads, which shouldn't have been blocked.
