Open bookmark links in new tab?
I think I asked about this some time ago, but without the ability to search for my posts I have to ask again.
I'd like to have bookmarks open in a new tab when left clicking. Is there a way to do that without add-ons/extensions, or do I need to use the middle wheel?

Re: Open bookmark links in new tab?
Under General in your Tools/Options/General/Tabs read the list.
Setting links to open in new tabs, bookmark is the same as a link, or at least it used to be.
However it would be somewhat of a global setting.

Re: Open bookmark links in new tab?
Hi,
Are you opening a new blank tab & then left clicking the Bookmark?
That works, otherwise just centre/wheel click the required Bookmark.
Not sure but maybe someone may know if it's possible.
Normal/default operation is...Left click = open in current tab.

Re: Open bookmark links in new tab?
Yes, I already have it set to "Open links in tabs instead of new windows". But that doesn't open links in a new tab, just the active one.Grumpus wrote:Under General in your Tools/Options/General/Tabs read the list.

No, that's an extra step, which defeats the purpose.LIMPET235 wrote:Hi,

Yeah I'll just do that. The trick is to remember which browser I'm in, because my other browsers have the ability to open links in a new tab with the left click.LIMPET235 wrote: That works, otherwise just centre/wheel click the required Bookmark.

Re: Open bookmark links in new tab?
There are lots of addons that claim to work but they all seem to provide different results.
I have all the settings mentioned but find I needed to add this addon to gain the most correct functionality.

I often take a long windy road to my destination. Upon arrival, I wonder how I missed the shortcut.

Try setting this preference to true in about:config: browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground

I got my hopes up only for it to not work. Nice try though!xanthon wrote:Try setting this preference to true in about:config: browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground

I'm not sure what this one does. On further reflection, I never left-click. browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs

That one didn't work, either. I appreciate your efforts, though.xanthon wrote:I'm not sure what this one does. On further reflection, I never left-click. browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs
And... you never left click? I can only assume your mouse is configured for left-handed operation?
EDIT: Setting browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs to true does work. I simply forgot to restart FF after changing. Thanks!

browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs default appears to be false try setting it to true

Re: Open bookmark links in new tab?
The above pref as Grumps mentioned works when it's set to TRUE.
I misread the prefs, function.
