Saving or viewing files

Post by Hans L »

Hello:

I remember the days when you clicked to download a files, and you could either download it or view it. One day (quite a while ago), the viewing option disappeared. Would anyone know why, and if it is possible to get it back?

Best,

Does this apply to a particular file format or is it happening with all files?

As I am so slow to react to this, I cannot remember. But I do think I remember that I was able to both saveand view pdf files.

But more importantly, can you both save and view files?

The changes occurred with version 98. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/98.0/releasenotes/

You need to change the settings you have under Applications (Settings > General > Applications) back to what you want.

For .pdf documents, selecting Open in Firefox evidently saves the download to your temp folder as previously.

That stores the PDF in the web content cache and shows the actual web address in the address bar. All other options save the file on disk.

Thanks. Where is the "web content cache"?
