"Show more bookmarks" double-chevron

This symbol at the far end of my bookmarks toolbar does nothing. How can I lose it?

Does it do nothing because there are no more bookmarks to show, or because it is broken?

Are you using CSS in a userChrome.css file to generate multiple rows of bookmarks?

There are no more bookmarks in my bookmarks toolbar. (There are loads more in the sidebar.) I have just 1 row of bookmarks in the toolbar.

You just have too many on the bookmark bar. Either delete some, or make folders, and move some off the bar into the folder(s). It won't show when you have some space from the last bookmark on the bar to the end.

Solved, as follows. Using the Library I found a strange search folder in the toolbar [not otherwise visible], and I deleted it. If anyone has any insight on what occurred I'd be interested.
