Unable to save gmail login properly

Post by kukla »

Firefox Lockwise "Create New Login" prompts for Website Address, which I entered as https://xxxxxxx@gmail.com

However, after saving, the address becomes a generic gmail address, with no way, on edit, to change this to the specific gmail address that was actually entered. I don't understand why this would be the default Firefox behavior for gmail addresses. Makes logging in to gmail, or at least getting back the specific address pretty useless. Any workaround or any suggestions for this?

A login is saved for an origin (protocol and hostname), you can't save a login for a specific file path.
Saving the username and password for a Google (Gmail) account shouldn't be a problem as all Google services use the same login (https://accounts.google.com/).

Solved: first went to https://gmail.com, entered password at prompt, hit save, and now when I go to the gmail account in question at Saved Logins, it shows https://accounts.google.com/ instead of https://gmail.com.

Next, when I go to https://accounts.google.com/ at Saved Logins, it brings me directly to the proper URL. Or I can just go to gmail.com in the address field, where I can simply click on the account name. Appears to confirm your suggestions, but was a bit roundabout, since this is something I've barely used in the past for mail accounts.
