hi
I am running latest version FF and win 10 pro.
Just now encountered a new problem, that when I try and search for something using google.com, I get a security error.
What can I do please?
thanks

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue
Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.google.com because this website requires a secure connection.
What can you do about it?
www.google.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.
The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it.
If you are on a corporate network or using anti-virus software, you can reach out to the support teams for assistance. You can also notify the website’s administrator about the problem.

Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue.
Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust www.google.com because its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates.

Hi Peter,
You may like to use duckduckgo instead of Google until it's fixed?
It's available in your Search Engines options list.

Are you possibly using a proxy or VPN as that can be the cause of this issue ?

Re: can't open Google.com to search anything
firstly Mr.L
g'day m8
just checked out duckduck go, but prefer bing, so far.
Prefer google to either of the above.
Do you happen to know if this is a new issue, anyone else so far seeking support for it?
Mr Dick, thank you
I use a VPN with Chrome, not sure if I do with FF.
This problem has just arisen a few hours ago, nothing else has changed in my computer, so don't think it's a VPN issue
thanks guys
cheers

No problem accessing http://www.google.com/
Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

g'day, somewhere on the right coast
I just doubleclicked on the google link you had no problem with, and I got
"""Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue"""
I exited FF, and I cleared FF cache, no chnage.
Will try sfe mode later

Who is the issuer if you click the View Certificate link to inspect the certificate ?

g'day Dick
maybe above my paygrade, m8.
I opened a new window using google com, and same thing happened.
I right clicked, but saw nothing in a list of options about viewing a certificate

alert-
thank you for your suggestions
This morning when I cranked up FF, and changed search back to google, it's working fine again.
one of those things, I guess
all the best

Peter,
Looks like you've got a friendly gremlin on board.
Thanks for reporting back.
