Avast Issues
I uninstalled Avast months ago from my PC and have found no part of Avast remaining on my system.
However, all of a sudden I'm getting a Pop Up from Avast Online Security saying the page I am viewing is possibly a phishing attack. I've used that website for years and never had any issues with it.
Any thoughts on why this is all of a sudden happening?

Hi,
Just a thought here, but did you use their "Un-installer Tool?"
You have to use it in Window's Safe Mode.
Window's "normal" un-installer will not remove everything related to any AV program.

Read the blurb.

Re: Avast Issues
Didn't realize Avast needed to be uninstalled in Safe Mode.
Was that a sneaky way for them to still be on one's PC without the user knowing it?
I uninstalled in Safe Mode, hopefully that solves the problem.

Re: Avast Issues
Their Un-installer tool will start Windows in Safe Mode....automatically.
States the process on that page.
Fingers X'd for you, but you should be O.K. now.

Avast Online Security is a Browser Extension.

Re: Avast Issues
I use 'Revo Uninstaller Pro' to uninstall programs. You would be surprised just how much is left over with the programs uninstaller.
Browsers that don't have a conventional horizontal Menu bar (where it's been for 25 years) are poorly designed. Period. Stop 'fixing' something that isn't broke!

Re: Avast Issues
FWIW...
AVAST"s un-installer tool does exactly what is designed to do. Plus...It's free.
It removes any/all traces of AVAST & it's garbage extensions/options etc., etc.
I removed AVAST many, many months ago & there is no trace of anything AVAST.
My PC now runs a whole lot quicker, programs load quicker & there's been no problems since.
Same goes for AVG. Get rid of it as well. (It's owned by AVAST.)

Re: Avast Issues
After uninstalling Avast in Safe Mode I'm still getting Avast Online Security icon in the menu bar telling me whether a website is safe or not.
Now what?
Now what?

Re: Avast Issues
Update on Avast Online Security icon in menu bar.
If I right click on it I get a message saying "remove extension"
Will that actually work?

Hi Tommy,
Did you D/L & use their Un-installer Tool?
It should give you ALL the OPTIONS to remove....everything.

O.K.
Apparently, "Avast Online Security is a Browser Extension."
Do, check what you have installed in Firefox' Tools > Addons > Extensions.
If found, remove/un-install it & restart Firefox.

Re: Avast Issues
The Avast Online Security icon in the menu bar is now gone. Don't know why cuz I didn't delete.
I went to my Extentions add ons and didn't find any Avast extension add ons so apparently it's gone!
Whatever the reason it's not popping up on any websites.
Thanks for the help!
