Blank space suddenly appears at start of tab bar
Suddenly today a blank space has appeared before my first tab. It's about the size of a regular [not pinned ] tab, and I can't move or delete it, even in the Customize view. There are no other changes in my configuration. The first tab is still numbered 1, it's just moved to the right. Restarting Fx or Windows didn't help. How can I lose this blank space?

I would first try to disable your tab numbering addon.
You indicate it is not from the "Customize" panel and you don't have any other modifications to your configuration.
If you open the "Customize" panel click the "Restore Defaults" at the bottom right -- if not risky to your installation.
Lastly, you might do a reinstall of Firefox over your existing installation -- shouldn't change anything but might fix the problem.

Many thanks, Bruce. The good news is that the well-known "sunshine treatment" worked: I did nothing not previously described, but the offending space just went away.

That could be the 40px .titlebar-spacer that is displayed for some reason.
userChrome.css =>
https://searchfox.org/mozilla-release/s ... s#line-670
userChrome.css =>
Code: Select all
.titlebar-spacer[type="pre-tabs"],
.titlebar-spacer[type="post-tabs"] {
display: none !important;
}
