Do all the classic Firefix extension still exist anywhere?

Post by Rekrul »

I have an old computer, running an old version of Windows, which forces me to use older browsers. Currently, the newest browser I can use is called MyPal, which can also use some Firefox extensions. The problem is that it only works with classic extensions and not the newer format.

Unfortunately, it looks like all classic Firefox extensions have been erased from the net. Occasionally I read about an archive of classic extensions, but unless I'm misunderstanding it, it seems that they're packaged in a form to be used by modern versions of Firefox, which doesn't help me.

Is there anywhere that I can find an archive of classic extensions, compatible with old browsers?

What version of Windows is it? For Windows XP, you can run this:
http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/ ... n32/en-US/

(If you prefer a language/locale other than U.S. English, click the .. link on that page and then click into the relevant locale folder.)

Regarding legacy extensions, I think you need to search around. Does this still work: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/commen ... r_firefox/

Depending on what CPU and amount of RAM you have there may still be some light 32-bit Linux distro that you could dual boot with to use a more current Firefox version.

You might see what https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/seamonkey/ can do.
And Classic Add-ons Archive (ca-archive).
And https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/ (though they likely would need, at least, some install.rdf tweaking).
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Go to my website at http://foxbird.net/firefox-55/firefox-5 ... theme.html, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the Extensions link. You will download a zipped folder filled with 58 of the most useful extensions that work in Firefox 55 and earlier versions.

The thing is that MyPal is supposed to be based on the source code to even newer versions of Firefox/Pale Moon and while it's definitely more compatible than any of the other browsers I can run, there are still a bunch of sites that don't work with it. For example, if I go to the Dominos website and try to order something, I just get a blank page.

The thread is still there, but it references the classic add-on extension, which you have to install to then see the list of old extensions. I was kind of hoping to just find a site that had them all individually listed.

I don't know anything about Linux or how to set it up and use, how to install software on it, how to compile software for it, etc. Plus, I typically do a lot of other stuff at the same time, so it would be really inconvenient to have to reboot every time I wanted to use the web browser.

The forum identifies your Firefox version as 13.0 on Windows XP.
If your Firefox version is based on Firefox 13.0 then it is really old.

This is bad part of new web, on some part is advancement with new JS standard, yet now most of web is unusable because without new JS Intepreter you can't load the webpage.. I really hate it the most to be honest... That also make old device can't even browse data, at least I still can browse journal article and read it using old atom 2007 with k-meleon... but to make it usable, I need to disable js... Welp.. many website now is client side rendered... :/

Yes, it's old. I have all my bookmarks saved in it and I never imported them into anything else, so I keep it around for that and for the few sites it still works on, like this one.

I also have the last version of Pale Moon Portable for XP, which works on more sites, but fails on quite a few.

I have the last version of Opera for XP installed. That still works for viewing YouTube videos and commenting, although for some reason, it recently lost the ability to reply to posts. I guess posting a reply is a super-complex task that only the very latest browsers can handle...

Finally, I have a couple different versions of MyPal, including MyPal 68.12.3b. I did try to get the latest version earlier today, but of course it seems Github changed something so that the links for the actual files no longer appear under Assets. I guess displaying links is another super-advanced feature that my old browser can't handle...
