Google caendar arrows are text

Post by Hans L »

I have FF 103.0 (64-bit).

Suddenly, in Google Calendar, the arrows that switch between weeks/months/etc are text (approx "cheche") and the search magnifying glass is "sea". It is okay in MS Edge.

What might have happened, and what can I do?

Thanks,

This likely happens because you are blocking remote fonts (i.e. fonts that are downloaded from the server) and you are seeing the 'alt' text instead.
An extension like uBlock Origin can do this.

dickvl, I do have Ublock Origin, so I will see what I can do to change settings there (if possible).

Thanks!

Here is what I found:

UBlock Origin settings:

Default behavior > "Block remote fonts": Not checked

No filter in MyFilters

What else could it be (if you know)?

Maybe check those arrows in the Font Inspector.

You can also check the Web Console for font related messages.

Dick, I have looked at the links, and my whole body is a "?".

What am I supposed to do to resolve this problem?

If you disable ublock origin and refresh the page, do the arrows work again?

Have you messed with any of the settings in Settings -> General, Fonts? Click the Advanced button. Is "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above" checked? If not, check it.

Do the arrows work again in Safe Mode?

Yes, obviously, I or whatever had 'messed' with "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above" . It was not checked, now is, and all is well. I think I remember having checked something similar in settings elsewhere, and there, everything was checked that should be. But, no matter, the thing is now solved.

Thank you for asking the right question.
