Exactly how did you determine that "its occupied space on my hard drive ... is now 45.5 GB"?

I was wanting you to attempt to delete a file (rather then the directory & all the files therein).

Want to see if a file, or a selection of files, do delete.
And if they do not, then what message is given?

Perhaps ? it has something to with "Recycle Bin" (& constraints thereof)?
So if deleting a file (or a selection of files) fails (to delete to Recycle Bin), try a Shift+DEL on the same (to bypass Recycle Bin).
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Shift+DEL is what I did too. Same result.

As the explorer isn't showing the folder size, I use a programm called TreeSize Free. Then re-check with totalcommander.

Maybe a file system problem? I don't have enough experience to recommend chkdsk or other repair tools -- although I would try chkdsk on my own drive.

After the problem is fixed, you can clear the cache by deleting the whole cache2 folder.
