Firefox Grays Out Photos on Web Page

Post by Clueless in Seattle »

I'm running Firefox 106.0.2 (64-bit) under Windows 10 21H2

Lately Firefox has stopped displaying photos on some web sites. Instead of the photos all it displays are gray rectangles.

Is there a fix for this?

Do you possibly have enabled "Resist Fingerprinting" ?

Maybe. That might depend on what is causing the issue, which we might be better able to determine if you identified one or more specific sites?

privacy.resistFingerprinting is set to "false."

Here's a link to a page with the problem I described:

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/04/obit ... dead.html

The web page displays like this in Firefox 107.0 (64-bit):

ImageBlank photos in NYT web pages by Will Anderson, on Flickr
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150056224 ... en-public/" title="Blank photos in NYT web pages"><img src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/525 ... b3b9_w.jpg" width="400" height="203" alt="Blank photos in NYT web pages"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

My apologies for all the clutter in my post. I'm nearly 80 and losing both my eyesight and my memory and I can't remember how to insert images or URLS into my posts anymore

That's due to some real crap by the web page designer. On my system, the image loads and 1 second later a pop-up appears that pretty much covers the image.

The image appears no problem with JavaScript disabled, then with it enabled the paywall descends and blocks it out, but not entirely. Never entirely grey.

kukla -- I did not mean anything offensive or racist. This was a phrase used in Vietnam. If you didn't pay you wouldn't get your laundry washed. I was relating to NYT -- some sites wont let you view/read if you don't join. I apologize if it is offensive and racist.
