Prevent "Login with Google Account" popups on websites?

Post by thoste »

As I had to notice more and more websites show recently a popup suggesting me to login with my Google (or Facebook) Account.

Its not a separate window popup but a webpage-internal overlay frame appearing mostly in the upper right corner.
The Login is NOT necessary to use/read the web page.

I HATE these annoying users reminders.

How can I get rid of them?

Is there a Firefox setting or AddOn to disable them?

If not: It should be invented.

uBlock Origin evidently blocks them with the filter lists AdGuard Annoyances and uBlock filters - Annoyances. FWIW, I don''t get the pop-up.

There is also a hidden configuration prompt in your Google account that you can configure to remove the prompt

– Go to https://myaccount.google.com/security

– Towards the bottom, click on "Sign in with Google".

– Turn off the function "Google accounts sign-in prompts"

More detailed instructions are here: https://gadgetstouse.com/blog/2021/07/2 ... -websites/

(It works).

@mgagnonlv:

Hmm thats not logic

Either I am
1.) already logged in into Google.
....Then it is not necessary to re-login via Login request or
2.) I am not logged into Google account
then I have to login to Google at first to let the web page find out that no Google Login prompt is necessary

I don't want to be logged in AND to prevent login popup prompts from Google or facebook

uBlock Origin is too much. I prefer not to install another WebExtension just for one single scenario.

So again: Is there a Firefox built-in (!) option to prevent such (overlay) popups?
