Losing Gmail connection

Post by jerry_d »

Mozilla forum,
Firefox 108.02 Windows 7 Professional.

For the past several months Gmail continually disconnects from the internet
and will not reconnect until I restart my laptop. While gmail is disconnected
all other Firefox windows still function and I can open a new Firefox window.

Any suggestions?

You can switch DNS providers (within FF itself) & see if that makes any difference.

So if you're using your ISP's DNS, & gmail goes dead, switch to Cloudflare & see if gmail is alive with that.
(Or vice-versa. And if you switch DNS, you might have to log back in, but the point is whether switching DNS even brings gmail back alive, logged in or not - without have to restarting your computer.)

While gmail is disconnected all other Firefox windows still function
If in that gmail window, if you were to open a different site, say mozillazine.org, would it load?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

therube,
Thanks for the reply.

Do you mean I should try switching the DNS while I've lost Gmail connection?

therube,

Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner.

When I lose connection to gmail I can use that window to do anything except logon to gmail.
I can open a new Firefox and do anything except log onto gmail.

I changed my DNS to 'Get Automatically from ISP' and thought the problem was cured but tonight it happened again. I had to restart to get back on gmail.

I switched it back to 'Use These DNS Servers' and set the Primary to 8.8.4.4 and the Secondary to 8.8.8.8

These were originally 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Try this:

Go to about:config via the address bar > search for security.tls.enable_0rtt_data > change the value to false.
