Please quantify “long loading time “.
Does the initial load include many tabs or multiple Firefox windows?
Have you tried starting the program in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

What security software do you have since your security software might also be delaying the first Firefox start ?

Hello DanRaisch,

thanks for your reply.

Long loading time means about 9 seconds.
This is the first time after a booted computer.
Afterwards we have loading times under 1 second.

We always start without any tabs, just the startpage, which is locally located, just a simple htm with some links.
Starting in save mode does not make any difference.

If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed? For clarity, this is for testing purposes, not necessarily for long term use.

Yeah, it will. Your/our Win 7 show the desktop soon after booting, but opening any programs/apps is damn slow for the first 2 minutes.

Try opening other programs just after booting and you/we will see what I mean.

Hello DanRaisch,

thanks for your reply.

This does not change anything.
BTW, we do not use any extensions or non-default themes.
We also did not have this long loading with older Firefox versions.
Compared with Internet Explorer or Edge, Firefox loads the longest.

It's not an enormous problem for us,
it would just be interesting, what is the difference between 1st load and later loads.
May be we could configure something in our system.

Just to clarify, if I say 1st load after booting,
this does not mean exactly starting firefox directly after booting.
I may leave the computer with no user action for some minutes before starting firefox.

Hello Frank,

thanks for your reply.

I cannot confirm, that programs run slow when starting after booting.
Ofcourse I leave the computer without user actions for some time after booting.

Same thing happens to me. I think it's because of the ad blocker and Webroot I have on Firefox.

I experience this issue as well, usually when Firefox is launched for the 1st time. I'm checking web from time to time on that problem and recently found a reddit post, where it was revealed that this long start is caused by Firefox scanning stored sites data and it's specially visible when this folder resides on a classic hard disk drive - this is my case. The author claims that after clearing stored site data via the relevant option in the settings the problem disappeared, as there was nothing to scan. I still have to test it.
I guess it's just a temporary fix and the problem will appear again when stored site data will grow big enough.
In my case they amount to 2 GB and startup takes a significant amount of time - up to minutes.

Are you using uBlock? If so, disable it and then see what happens.

Do you shut down FF before you shut down your computer?

Do you actually shut down your computer, or simply put it to sleep?
If sleep, you may have different sleep modes.

In my case, I always sleep, rarely ever restart (my computer), & my (computer) sleep mode is stored in RAM (rather then spooled to disk).
I also restore my browser session from Session Restore.

In that manner, the browser always opens speedily (from RAM).
If, for some reason, I would have had to restore from disk, that would take far longer (relatively compared to RAM).

Are you opening FF from Session Restore?
If so, about how big of a session do you have (about how many tabs/windows & about how much RAM is it eating)?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

It took me some time to test it, as the effect is usually visible only after fresh start of my computer or after waking up from looong (at least full night) sleep - and then I need to remember to start Firefox with uBlock switched off, which of course is not that easy :)
Today I managed to start Firefox in safe mode (=without any extension) and the startup took something like minute or longer. Process Monitor from Sysinternals showed, like in Reddit post I mentioned, that Firefox was scanning entire local storage folder. Immediately after finishing the scan, Firefox become responsive and loaded the page he was supposed to load at startup.
