Following up on a recent thread about using autoconfig.js to automatically open/close History folders in the sidebar... (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3105320)
It's always struck me as odd that the History sidebar (while displayed) doesn't update itself as new pages/sites are visited, instead one has to close and reopen it to see new items. (Once again the Libary window handles this properly, the sidebar doesn't.) Can this too be fixed with user js?
Edit: On further investigation, this bug is specific to the "View by Date and Site" mode that I use. The sidebar does update properly while viewed by either Date or Site alone (although I find these views unwieldy). Very strange!
Get history sidebar to update while displayed?

Re: Get history sidebar to update while displayed?
Well, surprise, I found this bug on Bugzilla too: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=879103
And ~10 years ago, the same guy(!) called Marco Bonardi opined that it wasn't worth bothering to fix either, claiming the "Date and Site" view was "seldomly [sic] used", and somehow that was that.
Can user js fix it, or does this one have too many moving parts?

Alternatively, can someone who's on Bugzilla post a new request to finally fix this bug?

That is not how Bugzilla works and meant to be used.

Thanks... I presume the point you're referencing is this?
"No whining about decisions... Unless you have further evidence to support reopening a bug, do not post a comment arguing that a bug resolved as INVALID or WONTFIX should be reopened."
Declining to fix a bug ten years ago can never be reconsidered? What on earth can "unless you have further evidence" mean here? No "evidence" was cited that the feature is little used (and telemetry would be unreliable as so many turn it off). How can "evidence" that people actually do use it and would like it fixed ever be presented without seeming to violate this rule? Ridiculous.
The odd thing is that both of these bugs were fixed in the Libary which I never use, and wonder who does.
