Getting IE back as default

Post by earth2mongo »

Followed instructions to remove Firebird, but IE not restored as default browser. Why do I have to re-download Macromedia Flash IE already has?

Followed XP instructions for making IE default, not working. Removing Firebird folder only stops links opening a new window from e mail.

How do I undo this install?

Thanks.

Checking the box for "default browser" and then restarting IE should do the trick.

You can always scrub your registry.

Didn't.

You can always scrub your registry.

Never did this before, any tips? Like a step by step.

Thanks,

if you go to Tools-> Internet Options-> Programs, there is a checkbox for "Internet explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" Make sure that is checked.

If it is, then try rebooting your computer and then launching Internet Explorer. It should ask you if you want IE to be your default browser.

Because Firebird is a browser unto itself, independent of IE and uses a different version of Flash.

Thanks, all. Got it, the combo was remove the Firebird folder, THEN
check the IE default box, and restart. Duh. sorry.
