Mp3s and Windows Media Player

Post by phil_er_up »

This problem is unlike all those other WMP and Firebird problems out there.

In IE, when you click on an mp3 link, it will (by default) open Windows Media Player, and it will start to play while it's downloading the rest in WMP.

But, in Firebird, as well as Mozilla and Netscape, the browser is determined to download the whole mp3 first, storing it in some temporary directory, then launching Windows Media Player to play the file.

I want to know, is it possible for Firebird to act in the way IE handles mp3s?

Maybe this will help. Don't know.

That link is about some different problem, not the one I'm having.

I already have applied the WMP9 registry patch, and there's nothing wrong with Firebird coming up with Windows Media Player 9. I do have the RealPlayer and QuickTime plugins installed too, as well as the WMP9 plugin.

I just want WMP to come up straight away after clicking an mp3 link, like how it does it with asx files, not Firebird downloading the whole mp3 first, then launching WMP9.
