When I try to re-install Firefox I get a " -202access_denied " error message.
When I try delete a previous version I get a " nsextension manager js:data error (cyclic redundancy check) " error message.
Any ideas?

You must be an admin to install Firefox.

Start menu> run> type chkdsk and press enter.
This will scan for errors and fix them.

Did you use the installer to install firefox or did you use a zip build?

Oh dear; chkdsk starts by saying "F parameter not specified, running chkdsk in read-only mode". It is then reporting thousands of file record segments as unreadable. It has also deleted a couple of corrupt file record segments. This looks serious. Help!
(I used the installer to install firefox)

Go into my computer, right click on your main drive, probably c:, go to properties, then the tools tab and click on "check now" click both checkboxes and start the disk check, it will probably tell you it needs to restart before working so restart.

More information on chkdsk here:

How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP

Getting back to your " -202access_denied " error, Make sure you are installing Firefox as a user with administrative privileges as was mentioned earlier.

If you still get the error, make sure the installation directory (for example, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) is empty and that the install path is valid if you are doing a custom install.

P.S. A quick forum search on your error came up with:

install error -202 access denied

In the above cases removing the Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder before installing did the trick.
