Mozilla Firebird 0.7 not remembering user settings

Post by Guest »

I downloaded it for my Redhat 8.0 and gunzipped and tarred it under the directory /usr/lib/MozillaFirebird/. What is strange is that there was no configure or make install file. But there was a MozillaFirebird-bin binary so it actually ran. When I ran Mozilla in X and tried to change its homepage, added some bookmarks, it worked when the program was still running. But as soon as I ended the program and ran it again, all the settings were resetted back into its default settings. Then I editted all.js as root to change the homepage manually but the bookmark still didn't work.

Is there anyway for me to keep the settings I changed in Mozilla's GUI? Could it be that I deleted all the library files from /usr/lib/mozilla-1.0.1/ and the binary from /usr/bin/mozilla of an older Mozilla 1.0.1 after I finished downloading Firebird?

What is the correct way to install Firebird?
