geting xml parsing error on startup

Post by cool_frog »

I am running win 98se w ie6

I have downloaded the newest firebird zip file.

when I try and run from the expanded directory I have placed
on my desktop I get the following error.

{
XML Parsing Error: undefined entity
Location: chrome://navigator/content/navigator.xul
Line Number 46, Collumn 1:

<window id="main-window"
^
}

anyone know how I could get this running?

I really would like to stop using IE6 but presently am
stuck until I get firebird working

Thanks in advance

Did you install any extensions? Have you used Firebird before? If so, then you need a new profile.

My friend had it running on their computer, I just copied it onto my usb key and then dropped it on my desktop and ran it from there. I do have a old Netscape 4 installation on my computer. Would it be trying to use that profile?

I don't know how to create a new profile. The program will not start up and I assume it would need to be running
before I could make a new profile.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You should be able to, using the RUN command, start the Firebird Profile manager this way:

"C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\MozillaFirebird\MozillaFirebird.exe" -p

(You need to find the actual location on your computer, of course). If that works, then select Manage Profiles, create a new one, see if Fbird will start with that new profile.
