Guests, don't jump to conclusions. We see this after every version change. Always, a few people swear that Fx is the problem, and if they persevere they almost invariably trace the problem either to "security" software or sometimes to a Fx theme or extension.

Here are some of the things that can go wrong. People "shut down" their firewalls and they still operate behind the scenes. People have multiple firewalls running that they don't even know about. Etc. The Norton firewall blocks the new version without telling you. Third-party "security" software controls access to the Internet, and sometimes blocks it. Occasionally a theme or extension does not work correctly. All the advice given above is good.

Does that mean that there's a default that can be changed? That would explain why some people have no trouble, and some people have nothing but trouble.

I guess there is. It is known that NIS is blocking silently but at the 1.5.0.1 release someone posted that his/her NIS has asked. I do not have NIS so i can not be sure. Any power user with NIS out there?

Edit: maybe similar to cookie configuration described here?

Guest, yes. Perhaps you have tried IE 7. If you do that, IE 6 sort of self-destructs when you install another browser. MS has a bulletin about it.

I've checked out a lot of forums, but nothing has helped me. I'm still getting errors loading certain websites. I don't have a firewall running so you can't point fingers there. It started after I updated.

I've tried every solution on this and many other sites. For the past four days I've been unable to load pages and get constant errors. I'm now abandoning firefox after years of use. I simply can't do anything with it following the latest update.

Guest, this thread is WAY too old, it's a garbage bucket of miscellaneous problems, and your problem has nothing to do with the title. No one is going to help you here. START A NEW THREAD.
