compiling Firebird from source

from documentation:

Create a .mozconfig File

First thing's first, set your CVSROOT appropriately and check out mozilla/client.mk.

Why should i set up CVSROOT? i have downloaded the sources, why should go online again for compiling?

but then this documentation part ("you need to have CVSROOT set") isn't very accurate!
