Disable the about: pages

Post by David Anasco »

We are using Mozilla running on Linux as the browser at our Public Library. We crafted our own version of Linux for our Public Access Computer. The computer is very secure, but we would like to disable the public user's ability to view the about: . . . pages, specifically the about:config page. Even if they do make any changes, the changes don't stick because an overwriting script runs in the background whenever someone restarts Mozilla (something that happens after 5 mins. of inactivity). We would still like to disable this if possible. Thanks for the help.

We are using a verson of Linux running Mozilla for all of our public access computers in all of our branches.

You will have to edit the source code to remove the about: protocol

Also, you might want to look into
http://www.gemal.dk/archives/000178.html

for creating a common profile.

You can disable about:config by deleting toolkit.jar\content\global\config.xul
