Is there an EASY way to transfer bookmarks from my old computer to a new laptop? I am running Windows XP Pro on my old computer and Windows XP Home on my new laptop. I am not very good when it comes to computers so I need a simple step by step of how I can get my bookmarks transfered to my laptop. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Export the bookmarks on your old computer:
Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Export
Import them on your new computer:
Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Import : "From File"
You can also backup some files in your Profile Folder
(it is not not in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile\)
See: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 91#2192291
See e.g. these:
Passwords: signons.txt and key3.db
Saved Forms: formhistory.dat
Site permissions: hostperm.1

click on "bookmarks" select "Manage bookmarks..." click on "File" select "Export" choose a location (desktop) to save the file. If you have a floppy drive on each PC, copy to a floppy disk. Odds are that you don't have a floppy, so you could attach the bookmarks file to an e-mail, and e-mail the file to your e-mail account used with your laptop, and save the bookmarks file to a location (desktop) on your laptop. Then you the same steps as above, and IMPORT the bookmarks.
Thanks dickvl & Guest, You made it so simple even I could do it.
OK, I am having the same question. I am using version 184.108.40.206 on a Mac with 10.4.6 OSX.
When I go to manage bookmarks in Firefox, there IS NO option for export. I just now installed Firefox on the laptop and there is also no Firefox or Mozilla folder in the Library. I nevertheless copied the entire Mozilla folder from one computer to the other with no effect.
So, with MY system, how do I transfer bookmarks from a desktop to a laptop?
Thanks for the help.
Your profile has to be somewhere on your system. Search your computer for "bookmarks.html".
Got it. Was in library/applications support/firefox/profile. Thanks. Michael
