Firebird Grey page Alert

Hi I have recently downloaded Firebird and used it for the last few days, I made it my default browser and it seemed to be working really well. Yesterday when I tried to open OE5 it gave an Invalid page fault. When I went to search for help on the Net with Firebird Browser I recieved a greyed out page, the top was blue with Mozilla and the mininize and maximize buttons. Over the top there was a small window with Alert and the rest was greyed out. I have not been able to access Firebird since and have had to rinstall OE to get it working and go back to using IE. Any suggestions please, I've also lost the ability to create shortcuts on the taskbar.
