Bookmark from firebird in win98 to firebird in linux

Post by pepsw »

I have run firebird on windows98 some time. Now I have installed linux (mandrake 9.2) on my computer also, and I will stay to firebird under linux to. So I want to import my bookmarks from win to linux. How do I do that?

In Windoze
Open Firebird and click on Bookmarks --> Manage Bookmarks
Then click on File --> Export
Tell it what you want the file named and where you want it saved at (prefereably on a floppy)
In MDK
Stick floppy in floppy drive
Open Firebird and click on Bookmarks --> Manage Bookmarks
Then click on File --> Import
Tell it where the file is and click on OK

You'll probably have some things in there twice now (you will see them in the Manage Bookmarks widow). Just click on them and delete them.

Or you could just copy the bookmarks file from your profile, put it on a floppy then copy it over the bookmarks file in linux, worked for me XP -> linux and linux -> XP.

However! You are running win98, which means your windows partition should be fat32 which linux can read, so just boot into linux and copy the file over. :D

I know you can change the path to your bookmarks, see below, so what I'm going to try sometime is set the path in windows and linux to a bookmarks file on my fat32 partition and see if they can share it. :D
