Firefox will not open Links

Please help. When I click on a Link contained in an Email in Outlook Express Firefox doesn't open at all. Sometimes
nothing happens and some other times the "Documents and Settings " Folder opens. I am running XP and don't have the same problem with IE. I have just installed Firefox and love its features but this is a real nuisance. Thanks in advance,

...once you have checked that Firefox is supposed to be the default browser. OE can be quite stubborn to convince!

I have seen that problem with people using IE7, opening the "Documents and Settings" folder, instead of opening the link in Firefox.
