Try to rename the signons.txt (signons.txt.sav) to reset the passwords and see if that corrects the situation.

I am having the same problem in FF2.0. It neither offers to remember or fill passwords. I do have roboform and if I shut off roboform, it comes up anyway when entering a login page even thought it is not running and not showing as a process in Task Manager.

The feature simply is not working.
