Download issues

I just installed Firebird and I'm having problems downloading files. The browser opens the files right away in the browser window (in gibberish computer code) and does not give me the option of saving it to disk. How do I fix this?

There are many threads about this... some are listed here.
BTW it's a problem with the server sending out a bad MIMEtype...

This is an issue on memoware.com. The link to download an ebook is not a direct link to the file. It is to an html file. So how am I supposed to fix this?

THAT is the window I'm getting when I try downloading things. After multiple attempts I get gibberish. As you can tell, its from this website.

Try right clicking the TAR file and see if it gives you the Save Link As in the context menu.

Whats the point of that window? It asks me a question and does not allow for an answer.
