If you do not create a new profile then Firefox will use the old profile.
The files are signons.txt and key3.db in your Profile Folder
key3.db holds the master password and is needed to decrypt signons.txt
You can use this extension to Save the passwords:
Password Exporter: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2848/

Re: Import Firefox Passwords on new install
this is 6 years old topic, but i say 2 ways to use old settings
works in win 7 version
copy c:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\RANDOMLETTERS HERE.default\
new install... copy above to new RANDOMLETTERS folder after u launched ff
or use simple program named MozBackup
works with firefox and thunderbird
i have used my own method 7 years and it works in fresh install and copied it to my 2 and 3 comp

Thanks for your report but replying to 6 year old threads seems rather pointless. Who's waiting around for an answer?
