When using 'Save Image As..." in Firefox (v1.5.0.8) it will redownload the image. Why?
Is there a way to just save the image (i.e. make a copy from the one in cache) ? That would be much more logical as it says "Save" and not "Redownload Image As..."
I already checked in the Download tab of the Options panel, but couldn't find a button to have Firefox really save instead of redownload.
If there is no button for this, does anyone know a hack for this?
I need this, because I need to download several images of a website which has lots of bandwith problems. Three out of four times an image doesn't get through properly, and therefore gets saved as a 1kb corrupt file. When I have the image onscreen it was downloaded with succes. Why does Firefox need to download it again (with a high change it fails downloading properly) ??? I just want the picture I have on screen to be saved, that's all.
Anyone any suggestions?
Thank you very much in advance for your help!

The Save image in folder extension has a new feature under advanced that lets you save an image from the cache.

You can try to clear the cache at some intervals to make sure that there is enough room.
Clear the cache:
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cache: "Clear Cache Now"
Unfortunately Firefox doesn't have a way to clear the memory cache with a menuitem.
I use the prefbar extension to do that: PrefBar - http://prefbar.mozdev.org/
Some info about prefs that control the cache:
