Littlemut - does it work here: http://members.aol.com/jrzycrim01/mozil ... st-HS.html

Since you are using Minefield, it might not be registered in the registry as 'Firefox' therefore the plugin installer might not know to install the plugin to it.

Vectorspace,
I have never been able to get that test page to run even using the original fix of adding the three .dll's, again probably a trunk issue, or perhaps as you suggest a registration issue.

I have no idea where in the registry to even start looking or what to look for.

Maybe, its Cairo related ?

EDIT: No, the plugin does the same as the other dll fix. I see a blank player, no controls or play button to press.

Is that supposed to work in any way if you don't have the new WMP plugin installed?

Cheers Guest. ;)

Vectorspace's link played for me perfectly while I don't have any extra's such as the Fx ActiveX installed; Fx 2.0.0.3 in Vista Ultimate.

One instance where this plugin would be needed is here, hopefully.

Kab: The test link I provided works if you have either the new or the old WMP plugin.
Your link to Yahoo music videos, they seem to use Flash.

Littlemut - do you have the VLC player installed?

Interesting... this plugin even shows the visual effects within the entire Firefox window when playing streaming music files. You know, all that trippy visual effects that go with the music in the normal WMP program. I don't really care whether it does it or not, but interesting anyways.

WMP 9 SERIES WORKS!!!

Windows XP SP2, WMP 9 Series tested and works perfectly well with this new plugin. I even disabled the old WMP plugin within about:config and it still works.

I'm thinking it's a trunk issue. You can try the various known issues listed on the WMP kb page, but other than that...

The new WMP plugin appears to have all of the same functionality as the WMP ActiveX control - visualisations, scripting, etc. Some of the stuff that allows a script to detect and respond to events in the plugin may still be IE-only, but all of the important stuff appears to be there (other than pre-XP compatibility).

Using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a3) Gecko/20070322 GranParadiso/3.0a3

The WMP plugin test page at http://members.aol.com/jrzycrim01/mozil ... st-LS.html doesn't work for me either, no matter which plugin I use. I get a blank where the player should load.

I tried the regular WMP plugin which is detected via plugin scanning: File name: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\npdsplay.dll

Then I disabled the plugin scan (by setting plugin.scan.WindowsMediaPlayer to 12.0), closed Firefox and and copied the np-mswmp.dll file to my Firefox30 plugins folder so that about:plugins now shows only the Firefox WMP plugin, File name: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox30\firefox\plugins\np-mswmp.dll

So I would agree that it's an issue with Firefox 3 since the new plugin (and the old) work fine in Firefox 1.5.0.11 Bon Echo 2.0.0.4pre and SeaMonkey 1.0.8

I think they've made a good plugin here... So far I only have two gripes:

1. No pre-XP compatibility.

2. It is installed directly into the plugin folder of detected Firefox installs. It should be in the WMP plugins folder and included in WMP installers, replacing npdsplay.dll and therefore being detectable and usable by any and all browsers on the system, Firefox or not, installed or zip builded.

I never thought this day would come... With the news that npdsplay.dll would not be included in Vista (as it wasn't in XP MCE) and rumours that it didn't work when restored manually, I felt sure that MS had finally decided to make WMP IE-only...

The test pages never worked for me in trunk but in FF 2. Plugins ( C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\npdsplay.dll and the two DRM plugins) are listed in about:plugins.
